Okay, I’m a Georgia girl who’s never picked a fresh Georgia peach. It’s not something that I didn’t want to do. It was just something I hadn’t thought to do. I do totally recommend it, though. We ended up with nearly 100 peaches for about $36. I’ve already started a Pinterest board to help with recipe ideas!
The day was hot for sure, but we surely enjoyed ourselves. We decided to go to Southern Belle Farm in McDonough, which is about 40 minutes south of Atlanta. It’s a huge spread, and peaches, blueberries, and blackberries are available for picking in the summer. Our experience was great, aside from the occasional bee hard at work. The staff was very helpful, and there were more than enough peaches to go around.
Honestly, I would go back next summer. I’m not the outdoorsy type, but this was a fun experience, even in the heat. The house smells just peachy. (I couldn’t help it!) And, as a girl on a budget, I feel like I totally got my money’s worth with this outing. If you’re looking for a farm to go picking, I definitely recommend Southern Belle Farm as it is one of the closest, and we had a great time. We are excited to go back this Fall for pumpkins! I’m going to make an effort to share a few recipes featuring the peaches we collected.
